BL Burger, Parramatta

Who doesn't know Blame Canada?
Au Revior Felicia from BL Burger

The famous burger has gained so much hype amongst burger fiends, and it is easy to see why. It appeared in my dreams and I always wanted to go to its original home in Bar Luca, Surry Hills, until I found out that BL Burger opened in Parramatta.

The place isn't fancy or anything, but eye-catching enough with colourful murals, burger pillows, and arcade games. Outdoor seatings are perfect for sunny days, but in these chilly nights I chose to stay inside and be warm.

So is Blame Canada worth the hype? Although it did get a little bit too heavy and greasy for me in the end, there is no question why this bad boy made its way to Sydneysiders hearts so easily.

The stack includes juicy beef pattie, maple glazed streaky bacon, American cheese, aioli and poutine.
It was full of carb-y goodness with all the shoestring fries in it, cheesy, and just plain beautiful.

I also tried their BL chicken sandwich: a huge mountain of pillowy milk buns sandwiching two crunchy pickle brined fried chicken breast which has no trace of being dry, American cheese, bacon, lettuce, pickles, and Sriracha mayo. I added jalapeno for good measure.

Their special burger menu changes weekly, and each one seems to be better than the previous ones. Au Revoir Felicia had beef pattie, red cheddar, slow roasted beef brisket, Soubise sauce, parsley & eschallot salsa, crispy fried onions with a serve of Espagnole dipping sauce on the side.

It was a big serve of meat, and was almost overwhelming. The fried onions brought nice crispy textures, and the brisket was so juicy. The Espagnole dipping sauce was very salty, and I reckon the burger would do just fine without it.

After a couple of visits I managed to try few of the sides, and can confirm that shoestring fries would be 100% better if upgraded to loaded fries. We had loaded fried with popcorn chicken, hoisin sauce, and mozarella, and it was deeee-licious.

Loaded fries with popcorn chicken, mozarella, hoisin sauce - $10

Shoestring fries - $5

The buffalo chicken wings were great accompaniment as well, served with ranch and celery. We were too focused on the burgers, TBH.

With Messina literally 5 mins walk away, BL Burger makes a perfect date night destination.

Rating: 4/5 (Recommended)
Great burgers with special burger each week, price is reasonable, service is quick although nil table service, nice ambiance.

  1. Yes!! Working close to BL is hard. Always tempting to go there (not good for the waistline haha). Blame Canada is totes up there in my top 5 best in Sydney! Their Flame of Thrones version is on par or possibly better. Awesome review as always Irene!

    1. Yet to try the Flames of Thrones but I've heard about its tale! Thanks, Raff! :)

  2. Wow! This one looks quite huge in size. Its more than enough for a single serving.I so want to eat it right now.It looks extra juicy and yummy.

  3. Burgers are my favorite food! Many will say that it is harmful and caloric. You know what? I am totally arrogant about your opinion, because a burger is a gift to the whole of mankind.
