Mister Gee Burger Truck, Burwood - Sydney

Great things come when you don't expect it.

I mean, amazing burgers from a truck at a car-wash place? Who would've thought?

Mister Gee Burger Truck wheels its way to a parking space of a car-wash in Burwood, and also into Sydneysiders' hearts. The simple black truck with minimal adornment doesn't seem like much but from what I've heard, there's almost always a line of eager burger lovers coming from every part of Sydney whenever they open those windows.

The three of us went there for a post kickboxing bulking session (heh), and was greeted friendlily by the staff.

Mister Gee, is that you?

We didn't manage to find out which one's Mister Gee, but none of that matters when our number was called and we finally had the burger babies cuddling in our arms.

Mister Gee or not, they're pretty friendly!

We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table and few seats. Don't expect fancy seating, instead prepare yourself to enjoy your burgers on milk crates turned into cool small tables and stools. The communal ambiance was very enjoyable for me, with people buzzing about how good the burgers were while telling stories about their days or picking the best shot for Instagram.

Instagram eats first, right?

We had everything on the menu that night, and baklava shake was the first item picked up from the window. Although I couldn't really taste any pistachio or rose syrup, the shake was pretty light and very milky. There were quite an amount of baklava crumbs in the bottom of the cup so give it a good stir before consuming.

Dirty fries was such a comfort food, with a pile of thin fried topped with abundant cheese, tomato, and mayonnaise-like dressing. It's full of calories, greasy, and oh so good.

Their burger menu changes once every few days, and that night, we had the pleasure to shake hands with the Cheese Boogie.

It's Mister Gee's take of American cheeseburger, with beef patty, American cheese, caramelized onion, dill pickles, and their secret sauce (OK I admit, I peeked on Raff's post for this info. Thanks, Raff!). It was sexier than Amber Rose's new swimwear, and the buns excite me more than those of Nikki Minaj's.

Them melting cheese!

The buns were a wee, very wee, bit too dry for me, as I personally like the squishy, greasy kind of bun like the ones from Mary's. But by no means it reduced the awesomeness of this beauty. The brioche bun held everything in place, including the seductive melted cheese, perfectly cooked beef patty, sweet caramelized onion, and tangy sauce and pickle.

The beef patty deserved more mention so here goes. It was pink in the middle, very juicy and tender with a hint of smokiness. Perfection, perfection.

If you're making a trip here, which you absolutely should, come with good time management as the crowd forms really quickly. But then again, if you can't find a seat, feel free to get dirty with your burger(s) on the side of the road. These dudes seem to have no problem with that. Hell, with such great burger, I won't even mind standing.

To say that I am very keen to try other burgers is a massive understatement. Stalk their Facebook and Instagram to find out which bad boy they're serving tonight!

Currency: $1 = IDR 10,200

Rating: 4/5 (Recommended)
The burgers alone are enough to make a trip to Inner West Sydney, the service is not much but very friendly, ambiance is casual and fun, price is very reasonable.

  9. I've heard so much about Mister Gee's, but haven't been! I just don't normally head out that way, but maybe I should make a special effort!
