Let's Do Dessert/Sugar Hit 2013: The Grace Brasserie

Don't mind if I do.

I am blaming Good Food Month for this. The idea of having dessert at night is something that is really contradictory to any diet program that I have tried. But maybe this marks a start of a new diet program. How does 'tasty food and sweet dessert everyday' diet program sound to you?

So the story continued after a light dinner at Night Noodle Market. We went to Grace Hotel, whose special dessert served for Let's Do Dessert event this year included some gorgeous chocolatey stuff.

And by saying stuff, I mean dark chocolate fondant, chocolate macaroon, vanilla bean ice cream served in a chocolate cup with a compote of lychees, pineapples and strawberries.

And a glass of Brown Brothers dessert wine is included in $20/person price tag. It was actually the best food-wine pairing I have ever tasted. The wine was light, fruity, and slightly sweet. Every sip paired perfectly with every bite of the dessert, and they somehow intensified each other's flavour.

The dessert itself was pure happiness.

Let's start with how fudgy, rich, moist, and dense the chocolate fondant was. The more I dug into the thick and rich block, the more my eyes watered from delightfulness. Well, that might be a wee bit exaggerated but the point is taken, right?

Not to mention the smooth vanilla ice cream that got alongside all of the chocolatey fiesta very well. The compote itself had a bit of tangy bites, which was needed to cut through all of the richness. The chocolate stick, bowl, and macaron were more of esthetic purpose, I reckon.

I wish I had more time to do more Let's Do Desserts, but unfortunately October is coming to an end. I really can't wait to see what 2014 GFM has in store!

  1. Errmahgerd that Chocolate Fondant dessert looks freakin' epic! I wish I was able to do this for Sugar Hit :( oh well, there's always next yr!

  3. Whoah that's quite a towering feat of dessert! Always a relief to have vanilla ice cream with intense chocolatey desserts.

    1. So true. What can we do without a scoop of classic and comforting vanilla ice cream, right? ;)

  4. Having a nice dessert time at shangrila was the best ever in 2013 (lets do dessert or sugar hit )......the worst one was in Harbour Rocks hotel, what we got totally different......scary!
