Chur Burger, Surry Hills - Sydney

It's probably not the healthiest option of a meal..

.. but let's be naughty once in a while, shall we? Believe me, a visit to Chur Burger will make you forget about your lunch box of quinoa and salad (at least that's what happened to me).

There has been a vigorous hype about this trendy burger place, whose name means 'awesome', a slang for Kiwis. The outer appearance isn't extremely eye-catching, but I believe it'll be hard to miss the graffiti of the name on the wall.

The ambiance inside is lively, with stylish decorations, patterns, and signs. There are a few communal tables, along with smaller round tables and window seating.

I am really fond of the randomness of the setting. Wooden tables, high stools, timber chairs, and barrel-stools with polkadot cushions are arranged randomly but tactfully, producing a fun and exciting vibe.

The menu is simple and right to the point. It doesn't have a broad range of items, but I reckon that's exactly what we need. A good burger, chips, and thick milkshake on the side; who's game?

Quite extensive choices of sauce are available on the table, from the good old (maybe not that good, talking health wise) ketchup to 'Hot! Samoan Boys' sauce. Choose your poison.

Usually, I'd go for the pork option as I am a die-hard fan, but after reading about some reviews that the pulled pork burger is just so-so, I went for the grilled beef cheese, tomato jam mustard mayo, and pickle. A pair of sexy brown brioche buns are sandwiching perfectly cooked, pink-in-the-middle beef patty with melted cheese, tasty tomato jam, mustard mayo and obligatory pickle.

The whole stack tastes superb, and I loved every bite that I took. I am also impressed about how buttery and flaky the brioche bun is, it's quite croissant-like.

But..

.. the marinated grilled chicken, hot sauce mayo and minted slaw is even better. I just can't get over about how tender, juicy and flavoursome the chicken is, and the zingy slaw makes it even better. I also love a little spicy kick from the mayo.

I'm ordering this next time.

And what's a burger without its soulmate, the fries/chips, right?

Although the classic potato chips is listed on the menu, we were going to the sweet potato fries' direction. The sweet, chunky and not particularly crunchy fries are seasoned with garlic and lime, making them exciting to eat.

It is a shame that I didn't get to try their good-looking Milo milkshake that day, as it seems to be raved about greatly. It'll go on my order list next time.

Just a tip here, you can actually drop all courtesy and use bare hands to pick up the burgers and sink your teeth right away without any help from the cutlery.

Anyway, isn't that the right way to eat a burger?
