Warung Libersa, PIK - Jakarta

A suitable place for eating with bare hands.
A meaty business

Because you will want to lick you fingers clean after touching the moreish sauce of the ribs.

Warung Libersa is Bali-inspired decorated restaurant in one of Jakarta's hippest eating spots in North area, PIK. The best friend had bought a discount voucher for a meal for three, so there we went.

The exterior seating has more natural and ethnic feel, while inside you'll be pampered with cool and clean air-conditioned room, and collections of cheeky pictures that may invite a smile on your face.

Drinks weren't included in the voucher deal, so we ordered the ones that made us thirsty just by reading the description. I think Gracia had fruit punch; refreshing, sweet, and definitely a thirst quencher. I had a glass of fruit juice which I believe had apple, melon, and lemon included.

Fruit punch (melon. strawberry, pineapple, lemon) - IDR 18,500 ($1.85)

The food was welcomed with excitement, but also with fear. There were just the three of us and we got two ribs, two plates of pork satays (12 skewers), two plates of thin chips, and four portions of rice. The smell was tantalizing, but we were thinking the same thing: how the hell are we going to finish all this? Plus, because it's a voucher deal, they didn't allow takeaway.

Anyway, we stood brave and started digging in like three hungry lionesses. The pork ribs are excellent, marinated and grilled perfectly to produce flavour-packed, tender meat. There's a bit of sour note from the marinade as well, so it doesn't get boring after a few bites.

Libersa pork ribs - IDR 95,000 ($9.5)

The pork satays also demanded the same amount of attention. The meat is tender and juicy, complimented with sticky sweet sauce and smoky flavour that comes from the slightly burnt part. Perfect with warm rice.

Sate babi (pork satay) - IDR 35,000 ($3.5)

We walked out feeling super carnivorous and bloated, but sadly we had to leave a portion of rice. But there is always room for dessert, right? But that would be told in different post.

Overall, the three of us really enjoyed the meal, and the service was efficient and very accommodating.

Rating: 3.5/5 (Really worth the try)
Great pork ribs and satays, price is reasonable, ambiance is good, service is faultless.
