LNC Dessert House and Maggie Beer Ice Cream, Sydney

Not everybody love Asian desserts, but I certainly do.

Asian desserts are usually playing with pandan, coconut, red bean, black sticky rice, and exotic fruits like durian and jack fruit combinations. Killer combinations, really. And that's exactly why I love it.

So it was a windy day, but we couldn't help ourselves from craving something sweet after a great Korean lunch which I will post soon. Then the cousin said, 'I want Asian desserts!' and she is pregnant, it's a no no to denying a pregnant woman's craving.

And so we landed at the colourful LNC Dessert House. The place is quite small, there are only few small tables and chairs, and one large counter occupying almost more than half of the whole area. There are some fancy-looking machines, and how cute is the Angry Bird cake?

Somehow there were two slush menus that were ordered that day. The girls had green tea slush with black sesame gelato (first picture) which I didn't get to try because I am not a fan of green tea stuff, so I chose the only menu with durian gelato involved; the red bean slush with durian gelato.

The slush is icy component in the glass, it isn't sweet but still very nice overall. More flavour is offered by some red bean, red bean paste, and black sticky rice. It's all good but the durian gelato perfected the whole concoction. It's so creamy and bursting with durian's heavenly smell and flavour. We were so close to order just a bowl of this gelato.

Arrived looking all gala and colourful, the Love Tokyo (green tea and black sesame gelato with fruit salad base, topped with whipped cream, sprinkled with red beans, mini balls, chocolate sauce, and wafer sticks) had aroused obvious excitement among the table. The fruit slices are looking fresh, but I only get to taste the black sesame gelato which tastes creamy but has some kind of nuttiness. I don't particularly like it, although the other girls think it's lovely.

And when I got home, a thought suddenly sprang in my mind. Ooh I still got two little tubes of Maggie Beer ice cream from GFWS! I don't know how I can forget these two, really. And so the fatting process continued.

Yes, they aren't in their best frozen condition because foolishly I had been storing them in the fridge instead of the freezer. They still taste super great, but.

While the burnt fig, honeycomb & caramel ice cream is worth fighting over with its delicious sweetness and just a small brush of bitterness, it's the dark chocolate and orange ice cream that won a larger part of my heart. The chocolate is so rich yet there is some distinct citrusy tang here and there. So yum.


Not everybody loves Asian dessert, but we do love our ice cream, don't we?

The rating is mainly for the great and very friendly service, but they have nice Asian desserts, the ambiance is nice although the seating can be too small for some, price is affordable.
