Bakmi GM, Starbucks, and McD's Beef Prosperity - Jakarta

Noodles is a safe option for my family.
Pangsit goreng (fried wontons)

When we are somewhere and confused about where to eat, noodles restaurant is always picked as a safe buoy.

It was when we were at Puri Indah Mall, and the mall was so crowded. Like always, we finally settled at Bakmi Gajah Mada (Gajah Mada Noodles). I have posted about this infamous noodles restaurant before, so do check it for more info. I also managed to forget about the prices as I didn't take the bill with me, so I am truly sorry about the incomplete info here.

For appetizer, we ordered siomay ayam rebus (steamed chicken siumays). Came in decent size, and prawns chunks are also given generously, accompanying the chicken chunks.

Pangsit goreng (fried wontons) is a must-order dish of course, they are crunchy and moreish as usual.

I chose a different menu this time, tempted by the fried chicken picture on the menu. Mie ayam saus Thai (noodles with fried chicken and Thai-styled sauce) is a bit on the dry side, although the chicken is rather tender and its thin crust is tasty. The Thai sauce is sweet-sour as expected, and I actually would prefer it if they give a small bowl of soup, to reduce the dryness of the dish.

To tell you the truth, the mother's nasi cap cay (rice with stir fried veggies) is more appetizing than my noodles. With super flavorsome gravy and a lot of chicken and seafood chunks, I just wanna swap my plate with this.

After the meal, I made my way to Starbucks, finally having the chance to use my free voucher. Obeying a friend's recommendation, I ordered the dark mocha, which supposedly cost me about IDR 40,000 ($4.4), but I got it for free of course.

This one easily won my heart, and I declare the dark mocha to be my second fav after the toffee nut latte. A perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness, with vivid taste of chocolate which is helped by heaps of mini chocolate chunks inside. And I love whipped cream.

This one is not related, but I think I just have to share this. Here, in Indo, McD (or Maccas) offers its special beef prosperity burger on every new year's and Chinese new year's times. I am not 100% sure about this though, so feel free to correct me.

The price ranges from about IDR 22,000 ($2.4) for single burger to about IDR 35,000 ($3.8) for double burger. I had tried this once ages ago, so when the ads was aired again I couldn't help myself but to visit the nearest McD's branch.

I am just gonna say this outright, this burger is my favourite McD's burger. The burger consists of a thick beef pattie, drenched in finger-licking good black pepper sauce, topped with sliced onions, and all of them are sandwiched between the burger bun.

I truly love the sauce, and the beef is tender too. Absolute guilty pleasure. If only it's not offered for a limited time.

Rating (for Bakmi Gajah Mada): 4/5 (Recommended)
Great noodles and fried wontons, ambiance OK, service quite fast, price affordable.
