Saturday Practice #4 - Best Buns Ever

The weekend is finally here.

I've been looking forward for this weekend, mostly because the week has been hectic and I'm totally worn out. Anyway as I haven't practiced for too long I think it's a good time to do it. And BTW now I am thinking about buying more props. Props are great for food photography. Sometimes it makes me really wonder how people can make really good food photos.

I got some small steamed buns or bakpao from the grandma few days ago. Turned out to be the best buns I've ever had in my life. So I thought what a waste it would be if I just shove them down my throat without taking pictures. The next thing I knew I was arranging my chop-board and chopsticks on the pantry.

The buns themselves are really awesome. They're soft, and the bun-filling ratio is in balance.

My fav are these two. The BBQ pork bun and the black bean bun. The BBQ pork filling is really tasty and moreish. The black bean one has an earthy sweetness and great fragrant, the thing you'll want from your black bean bun. And oh on the background is my own concoction of sauce. It's chilli sauce with sweet soy sauce. Weird? It tastes good you know.

I don't know where the grandma usually buys them from, but I reckon it's in the Grogol-Jembatan Lima area. I'll make sure I ask her next time.

And normal review post will come soon, so stay tuned!

  1. They look beautiful and fluffy. I think I'll have to try making them at home to get really good ones around here :)

  2. @ Apple: they're very good buns really. but I'm sure yours will turn out great! :)
